Lewis Hamilton strides into this year’s Formula One campaign a starkly changed driver, having acquired a bulldog, a private plane, and a fresh aspiration to seal his place in the motorsport firmament with Mercedes.
The only pressure comes from his departure from McLaren, the operation that reared his talents from the age of 13.
“I expect to win, to achieve greatness, to excel. That’s what I work hard for. It’s what drives me on,” he says.
The time is perfect for Hamilton, aged 28 and commonly identified in the paddock as the fastest and most audacious driver of his generation, to end a frustrating five-year world title hiatus after his maiden triumph in 2008. The only doubt…
