Racing at the Limit

Racing at the Limit

Picture: Ayrton Senna, an artist at his craft… and perhaps the greatest Grand Prix driver of them all!

Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli , who has spent 20 years looking into race car driver physiology and performance, has found the key to brain economy. Put simply, the more spare brain capacity a driver has while racing, the better chance he has of attaining his best performance. The closer a driver is to maximum performance, the more fatigued the brain becomes. Ceccarelli suggests the more energy-efficient the brain gets, the easier it is for a driver to consistently drive at his limit.
