Here are some of my notes (brief) from an “interview” with a New Zealand sports psychologist. I hope they may be helpful to you… in whatever endeavour in which you may partake. Enjoy…

“MIND OVER MATTER”

How to tap into the psychology of performance (peak) through developing your mental skills?

The importance of mental preparation

Keep growing in your mental skills

It’s all about performing under pressure

Push through the inevitable obstacles that get in your way with confidence that you WILL succeed (especially feelings of self doubt))

Have a PLAN, then execute it

The cream nearly always rises to the top

Don’t lose your plan

Remain focussed and don’t allow yourself to be derailed from your goals…your dreams

“Show me the boy at age seven…and I’ll show you the man.”

The science and art of discipline (self))

Achievers move (in small steps) daily towards where they want to go

Stand up for yourself and be proud of your past achievements.

Put in the work (“hard graft”) then EXPECT success

It’s a simple message: You have to do it …YOURSELF!

Embrace the mindset (positive)

You have to have clarity to move forward with the right intensity

Drive hard

When starting out on your quest, you need a person who believes in you and encourages you- reinforce a sense of a person’s self worth.

The best approach involves the “whole person concept“, eg. you are more than just a rugby player, – you are u father, husband, etc

Many top achievers are perfectionists- they don’t allow for failure- Be an individual, yourself first… and don’t let other people define who you are (and what you represent).

“Remember above all else…to thine own self be true.” (thanks dearest mom, your spirit lives on)

-Polonius in ‘Hamlet’

MENTAL SKILLS

It’s all about performing under pressure.

Control your attention on the task at hand – the very best sportsmen and women don’t get diverted. It’s what and how they control things in the BIG moments.

In team sports the team always comes first… and self second – the self mustn’t rise above the interests of the team (there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team’, but there is ‘I’ in ‘win’).

Once you get the right thoughts, that positive mindset, then everything else fits into place.

Get the building blocks right.

MANAGE YOUR MIND and you MANAGE YOUR LIFE

YOU CAN…YOU WILL DO IT!

PS:
Most importantly,
have FUN enjoying the life journey

“Success to others may be apparent in what you DO; but significance, meaning and purpose lies, then reveals itself in what you ARE and BECOME down the ‘river of life’ – how and the spirit with which you face, then overcome the daily obstacles, the frequent trials and tribulations along the often rocky path-way of life’s magical and mysterious journey. Light YOUR path brightly.”

“True success is being the YOU that you really want to be. Do not follow the well-beaten track of others towards success – like the rainbow, it is often an illusion always just beyond our reach. Make your own path and let your spirit blaze a brilliant trail towards the pot of gold, the prize for the gift – one that is uniquely you and YOUR successful journey down the river of life.

“Champions aren’t made in the gym. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them – an inner flame that burns brightly…with purpose, desire and passion. True champions live the dream, the vision of who and what they can one day become…. even a long time before it happens.”
– craig

Together, one mind, one heart, one life at a time, lets see how many people we can impact, encourage, empower and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials.”

“The roots of true achievement lie in the will to become the best that you can become.”
– Harold Taylor

“It is not as important to succeed, but to persist.”
– inspiring words that greatly encourage me from great South African writer and humanitarian, Alan Paton (author of ‘Cry the Beloved Country’)

“You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.”
– Colette

“The important thing is not to win, but to take part.
The important thing in life is not the triumph, but the struggle.
The essential thing is not to have conquered, but to have fought well.”
“Together, one mind, one life at a time, let’s see how many people we can impact,
empower, uplift, encourage and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials.”

“One person with a dream can accomplish more than 100 others without one. If you have a burning desire, you can accomplish anything. The biographies of great men and women are full of stories of how they did seemingly impossible things because they had a dream.”
– author unknown

” Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Oh man! There is no planet sun or star could hold you, if you but knew what you are.”

– Abraham Lincoln

” He who cherishes a beautiful vision, a lofty ideal in his heart, will one day realize it. Dream lofty dreams and as you dream so shall you become.”
– James Allen

“No vision and you perish; No Ideal, and you’re lost; Your heart must ever cherish Some faith at any cost. Some hope, some dream to cling to, Some rainbow in the sky, Some melody to sing to, Some service that is high.”
– Harriet Du Autermont

    “THANKS FOR THE THANX”

Firstly, thanks for the feedback (very positive) from you all, and this article and web site has really “seemed to have struck a chord” with so many of you “out there in cyberspace.”. However, it also means that I’m being swamped by “thanks mail” , as well as the many many thousands of comments on my various other blogs. So I can’t post ALL the messages I get each day, though I do try to read as many as “poss”.

Still I’m pleased you readers are enjoying these thoughts (why I write) and I do APPRECIATE the feedback. Will try to read as many responses as I can each day.
and approve a few each day (seeing you’ve taken the “trouble” to write in and say ‘thanks’). I really DO appreciate the positive feedback – the reason I write my various articles and books (at http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B005GGMAW4) is to share.

To answer a few questions (I’m “snowed under”, so sorry, don’t have resources as a “one man band” to answer you individually)

    * All my articles may be freely reproduced (sorry don’t have time write for other websites), as I’m busy writing a few books at the moment
I put most of my focus into my books, so have no idea how to add sound, video, etc to the blog…to make it better.
    * please feel free to link to the web site or my other wordpress blogs at http://craigsblogs.wordpress.com should you wish, but I have no time to do links
    * You may not believe this, but I’m a “total non-techno”, so know, NOTHING about web site design, feeds, etc. And lay-out is not one of my strong points. I just write and posted on the blog! How I got am where I am is a “miracle” . And no one would believe the story (only those who have true faith)! BELIEVE it (first) … then you’ll see it!
    “Believing is seeing.”
    (BEFORE the event)

    * I don’t have a newsletter to subscribe to
    * Will try to post articles from time to time, but all my writings are available at http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/user/15565 and http://www.ideamarketers.com/library/profile.cfm?writerid=981
(Personal growth, self help, writing, internet marketing, spiritual, ‘spiritual writings’ (how ‘airey-fairey’), words of inspiration. Please feel free to use

Thanks again for the understanding and “thanks for the thanks”
